Jayne Mote named Woman of the Year finalist

Founder of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Water Ms Jayne Mote has been named a finalist in this year's Central Coast Woman of the Year Award.

"Jayne has been volunteering for more than half a century," said club secretary Ms Di Bartok.

She said Ms Mote's charity work started in 1960s, when she established two youth clubs in the United Kingdom.

"She undertook youth leadership courses and was involved in youth activities.

"In the 1970s, she was appointed a Justice of the Peace and served as a member of the Quota Club of Campbelltown.

"In the 1990s, she volunteered for various community organisations.

"In the 2000s, she served as a member of Woy Woy Rotary Club.

"She home-hosted Rotarians from Indianola, USA, as part of a Friendship Exchange, and a Rotary Group Study Exchange team from Germany.

"In the 2010s, she founded Central Coast Rotaract Club and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

"She served as president of Woy Woy Rotary Club and as Rotary Assistant Governor of the Lower Central Coast.

"She served as a team leader of Rotary Study Exchange Groups from the UK and Turkey.

"She arranged and organised combined Central Coast Rotary club dinners, as well as a combined dinner for the District Governor.

"She ran trivia and film nights for polio and mental health charities and, with Ms Sue O'Neill, arranged a dinner and presentation for visiting doctors from Uganda.

"She served as Rotary District Interact Chair and co-founded the Rotary Club of Brisbane Water.

"She spearheaded food collections for Mary Mac's Place and Coast Shelter.

"In the 2020s, she has served as membership director of Rotary Brisbane Water, organised trivia nights for Wires and has received a Living Legend Award from Volunteering Central Coast.
